The second term of the "Basic Course for Comprehensive Orthodontic Treatment Based on the IOS Concept" by Dr. Watahiki, President of IOS (Institute of Orthodontics), is now open for registration due to the popularity of the course.
We are looking forward to your participation in the second term.
This course is a basic course to practice comprehensive orthodontic treatment through lectures based on Dr. Watahiki's original IOS diagnostic concept and practical training using his original typodont.

《Message from Dr. Watabiki》
Orthodontic treatment is more than just aligning the teeth.
It is important to provide a stable occlusion that is acceptable to the body over the long term.
Comprehensive orthodontic treatment management is not an easy task for even the most experienced orthodontist, especially in adults with reduced adaptability to orthodontic treatment, high esthetic demands, restorative crowns, implants, and endodontic problems.
Furthermore, there are many different philosophies and ideas about orthodontic treatment that can confuse us as students of orthodontics.
Therefore, I have planned an annual course to provide you with the knowledge and basic skills of comprehensive orthodontic treatment edge-wise and digitally, from my logical point of view based on the latest evidence.
GPs and orthodontists are cordially invited to join us.
《For those who are considering taking a course》
This course is designed to provide students with the diagnosis - basic skills and knowledge proposed by the IOS, which combines orthodontic diagnosis with period and prosthetic concepts through the treatment of laminate veneers, prosthetics, implants, and two unique types of typodontics that are designed to treat gingival recession.
The course will be held every other month for one year, and there will be many homework assignments during the one-month interval according to the level of each student.
In addition, a case presentation by all students is scheduled for the last day of the course.
Homework assignments are subject to change depending on the level of the student.

Eligibility for this course
(1) General dentists who
1) Those who would like to learn how to judge the difficulty level of orthodontic treatment and perform orthodontic treatment according to their own level (regardless of their experience in orthodontic treatment).
2) Those who wish to learn comprehensive orthodontic treatment (comprehensive treatment incorporating orthodontic treatment) from the basics.
(3) Those who wish to deepen cooperation with orthodontists.
(4) Those who feel the limitations of aligner orthodontic treatment and wish to learn wire orthodontic treatment.
2) Orthodontists who
1) Those who want to review their own orthodontic knowledge from the basics and practice the comprehensive orthodontic treatment advocated by the IOS.
2) Those who seriously want to practice comprehensive orthodontic treatment advocated by the IOS in collaboration with specialists in other fields and GPs.
3) Those who believe that orthodontic treatment will make a great leap forward by learning the basics of comprehensive orthodontic treatment together with GPs.
We do not recommend the following people to attend the course*.
1) Those who do not want to change their own orthodontic diagnosis or methods.
2) Those who want to master only aligner orthodontics.
3) Those who find it difficult for some reason to do assignments or final case presentations.
4) General dentists who do not wish to work with orthodontists at all
5) Orthodontists who do not respect general dentists
6) Those who want to learn only what they need quickly, skipping the basics and understanding of the fundamentals
7) Those who do not agree with the concept of IOS and the main purpose of this course.
8) Those who want to learn only the O-PRO technique.
We are planning to offer an O-PRO course within the advanced course for those who have completed the basic course.
The IOS believes that comprehensive orthodontic treatment is a new field of study not only for orthodontists but also for general dentists.
This field has the potential to expand the possibilities of both orthodontics and dentistry, but at the same time requires a significant amount of training to master the techniques. The course is designed to be taught in a small group setting so that participants can learn in a relaxed and comfortable manner, and we look forward to seeing the chemical changes that will occur as GPs and orthodontists study together. Information will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis.
